Family members, friends, and the Alger and West Branch communities are mourning the loss of Dana Brooke Quigley, who passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2026, in Alger, Michigan, at the age of 41. Dana’s passing has left a deep sense of sadness among those who knew and loved her, as loved ones reflect on a life defined by resilience, kindness, hard work, and devotion to family.
Born in Bangor Township, Michigan, Dana Brooke Quigley was the daughter of Kathleen Fender and was later lovingly adopted in 1990 by Leslie and Rose Quigley of West Branch, Michigan. She was raised in West Branch, where she attended West Branch-Rose City Area Schools through the tenth grade before graduating from Standish-Sterling High School in 2004.
Dana was widely recognized for her strong work ethic and unwavering determination. Throughout her adult life, she worked at Forward’s gas station in Alger, Michigan, where she became a familiar and trusted face within the local community. Co-workers, customers, and friends remember Dana as someone who approached every responsibility with dedication, positivity, and reliability. She was known for taking on difficult shifts without hesitation and for consistently showing up with a caring attitude and quiet strength.
Many in the community recall seeing Dana walking to work regardless of the weather conditions — a simple but powerful reflection of her perseverance and commitment. Her willingness to keep moving forward despite life’s hardships inspired those around her and demonstrated the resilience that defined her character.
Beyond her work, Dana found her greatest happiness in being a mother to her beloved son, Wyatt James Quigley. Their bond was one built on love, companionship, and treasured everyday moments. Whether they were taking walks, playing video games, or simply spending time together, Dana cherished every opportunity to create lasting memories with her son. Family members say Wyatt was the center of Dana’s world, and her love for him was evident in everything she did.
Friends and loved ones describe Dana as genuinely kind-hearted and selfless — someone who always made others feel welcomed, valued, and supported. She had a natural ability to brighten someone’s day with her smile, compassion, and familiar farewell phrase, “later gator,” which many will forever remember with affection.
Dana Brooke Quigley will also be remembered for the relationships she built throughout her life and for the love she shared with family and friends. Her presence brought comfort to many, and her absence leaves a tremendous void in the hearts of those who knew her best.
She is survived by her son, Wyatt James Quigley; her parents, Leslie and Rose Quigley; and her biological mother, Kathleen Fender. She is also survived by her bonus family, Gary and Christina Jenkins-Sloan; her siblings, Jody (Peter) Zimmer, Robert (Mandi) Quigley, and Bethany (Brock) Hughey; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, including Lesley (John), Neil, Autumn, Danielle, Isaac, Elizabeth, Taylor, Teagan, and Tarah. Dana also leaves behind her great-nephew and niece, Blake and Jolie, in addition to many extended family members, cousins, and dear friends who will continue to honor her memory.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Arnold and Wilma Quigley, and Arthur and Mary Godden.
A celebration of life honoring Dana Brooke Quigley will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Moffatt Township Hall, located at 1590 North M-76, Alger, Michigan. Family, friends, and community members are invited to attend and celebrate Dana’s life, share memories, and support one another during this difficult time.
